My Name

I am Korean and my name follows the typical form of Korean name, which is last name first and 3 letters in Korean. My name is Minji Kim. Kim is my last name and 50% of Korean population is using this last name. It sounds really common last name but our family's blood is related with the ancient King's family. Minji means the meaning of the sky. My name supposed to have a Kyoung in it but I couldn't get it. My sister and my father have Kyoung in their name but I don't ( It is a tradition that is sharing the same Korean letter in the names of family members.). My parents or my relatives didn't name me. My parents asked to the namer to make my name. He or she said Kyong letter will give me a bad luck so my name is decided to be Minji. My name was Min-Kyoung that my parents decided before I was born.

In Korea, Minji is a so common name. If you travel Korea, you will be able to meet a bunch of Minjis. We might not have same Chinese Character for it but the sound is same (Korean is usually based on Chinese Character). My old school class had four Minji and two of them includes me have Kim for last name. It is really hard to clear who is calling or not. Korean school give the number to students according to thier last name and we were always next each other. Those school life gave me a strange habit which I ignore the first call. It put me into a lot of troubles but it was neccesery in my old school because I don't know people are calling my name or not.
